Key Aspects of the D.Pharm Program:

Duration and Structure:
  • The D.Pharm course typically lasts for 2 years.
  • It is divided into two years, with each year covering different aspects of pharmaceutical education.
Curriculum:
  • First Year: The first year usually focuses on basic subjects such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacognosy. Students learn about the chemistry of drugs, their formulation, and their natural sources.
  • Second Year: The second year includes subjects like Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence. Students study the effects of drugs on the human body, drug safety, and the legal aspects of pharmacy practice.
Practical Training

Practical training is a crucial component of the D.Pharm program. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and internships in pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies.

Eligibility:
  • Candidates typically need to have completed their 10+2 education with a background in science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Maths) or its equivalent.
  • Some institutions may also have entrance exams or additional requirements.

Community Pharmacist: Working in retail pharmacies to provide medication and health advice.
Hospital Pharmacist: Managing medication therapy in hospitals and working alongside medical teams.
Sales Representative: Promoting pharmaceutical products to healthcare professionals.
Regulatory Affairs: Working with government agencies or companies to ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

Earning Potential:

Pharmacist: Starting salary of ₹2.5 – ₹5 lakhs annually; benefits may include health insurance, provident fund, and paid time off.

Clinical Pharmacist: Starting salary of ₹3 – ₹7 lakhs annually; similar benefits as pharmacists.

Pharmaceutical Sales Representative: Starting salary of ₹3 – ₹8 lakhs annually; benefits often include bonuses, health insurance, and travel allowances.

Training & Placement Cell:

Training and Placement Cell is one of the most important department within the institute, which has a big impact on the careers of the students.

Under the guidance of an energetic and experienced placement officer Prof. Dr. Santsoh Shep (additional charge), our placement activities are deigned to achieve great height by forming relations with the industry and existing student base.

Training and Placement Cell aims to synergize the requirement of the recruiters and the aspirations of the students. Thus, acts as a bridge between Industry and the Academia.

The office of Students’ Affairs of the Pearl College of D & B Pharmacy (PCDBP) serves in the best interests of the Institute and promotes the welfare of the students.
